In fall 2020, KMBC introduced hybrid classrooms that would allow online students to participate in courses as if they were on campus. After an amazing semester of using this new technology, KMBC representatives were given the incredible opportunity to share this system with other colleges.
Each of KMBC’s classrooms is equipped with a 360-degree camera to capture the room and a microphone to record discussion, as well as a high definition camera clearly capturing the instructor, a projector, and a SmartBoard. Remote students can participate in class discussions, ask questions, and even make class presentations as if they were in a live, in-person environment. Our representatives were able to demo this setup at two national conventions for college leaders. The first conference was with KMBC’s accrediting association, The Association for Biblical Higher Education, which encourages colleges to help students develop their Christian worldview and impact the world for God. The second presentation was to The Association of Business Administrators of Christian Colleges, which has a mission of helping Christian colleges become equipped to make the most difference to their students. We are so thankful for the amazing experience of sharing our technology at both conventions, and we pray that this type of learning can be implemented in other colleges to help students further their education.
